My Second Liebster Award!

Woo Hoo! My 2nd Liebster Award! Well… it’s actually my first Liebster award if you don’t count self-nomination as one hehe 🙂 You can click on the following link to see My First Liebster award: Self Nomination which was written just after I had launched my blog.

Ann from Grubbs n Critters nominated me for this brilliant award; Thank you so much for this! I am very blessed to receive this award. The Liebster award is given to new bloggers with less than 200 followers who have wicked blogs. It’s a chance for other bloggers to recognise other blogs and bloggers for their hard work and praise them for it.

Like I said, I am very grateful that I have been awarded for this, especially where I’ve recently felt like I haven’t been doing as well as before – this award has given me motivation to put myself back on track.

So moving on, let’s answer the questions set by Ann:

The Answers

Highlight of this year:
I would have to say it would be starting up this blog and volunteering. Two of the things I’ve wanted to do for a long time but could never really commit to it until now. I am very proud I am doing both and hope that I will continue to bring fun stuff to the table for my readers and my children at school. 🙂

Favourite Quote:
I think my favourite quote at the moment would have to be this french one; “Petit Ă  petit, l’oiseau fait son nid”. I’ve been struggling for a little while now with the whole house move (I’ve only been in my new home for a year) and just about been able to meet ends meet. My home is still basic in terms of decorating but I am sticking by this quote to get me by.

Where do you source your inspiration from whether it be in life or writing?
In life, my inspiration comings from other single working mothers and strong women. LO is lucky enough to have Daddy P around but I know that there’s many people who are doing the hardest things like juggling life, work and other things all by themselves. The struggle is real and I have so much admiration for them.

What is your favourite colour and how does it inspire you?
My favourite colour has always been pink but I also really love orange. Pink inspires me to feel “girly”, fun and romantic whereas orange inspires me to feel confident and strong/powerful. To be honest, I love all of the colours – some more than others depending on my mood.

Where were you born?
I was born in Hong Kong. I’ve never been back so I would love to go one day. As both of my parents are Vietnamese who migrated to Hong Kong, I’ve never considered my heritage as Chinese, only Vietnamese. I’ve been to Vietnam once and planning to go back soon to see my father.

How many countries have you visited?
Not that many – about 6 but I’ve been to more than one city in each country. I desperately need to travel more and will do soon with LO tagging along.

Can you play an instrument of?
I used to be able to play a range of instruments; piano, guitar and a little bit of violin but dropped all of them. I was a Grade-5 pianist which is a pretty good standard but after I was in my adolescence years, it all went out of the window. I kind of regret it now but can still play a little so all is not lost.

What one thing is guaranteed to make you cry?
Films. I am not joking. Whether it’s a sad scene in a Disney movie or a tragic movie, I’m bound to cry.

What would you say is your favourite restaurant?
I have loads of restaurants that I really love but if I really had to pick one, it’s got to be Bob Bob Ricard in London. I can’t get enough of that place. I’ve only been once but so want to go back. Their food is seriously tasty, well presented and their chocolate gold dessert is so innovative, it’s brilliant!

What is the word/phrase that you use way too much?
At the moment it’s “what do you say?” as I’ve been trying to drum in to LO his new line that he’s been learning from nursery which is “can I have … please?”. That, and probably “oh damn” as this has replaced all my swear words now. 🙂

7 Interesting Facts About Me
  1. I have an allergic reaction/intolerance to alcohol if I drink anything more than half a glass at a slow pace
  2. My son was born just a day after my 24th birthday – perfect timing… or is it?
  3. I used to take on art nude modelling casts for professional photographers and their projects – It was a wonderful confidence boost for me and to be honest, the female form is always beautiful to look at haha!
  4. I am still good friends with a select few of people from my educational days; from primary school all the way up to university.
  5. I used to play piano at a Grade 5 standard and was scouted by my primary school (year 5) to get a scholarship to one of the best music schools at the time however due to adolescence and friends, I gave up piano after year 10/11.
  6. When I was really like, maybe like 7/8 I wanted to be an artist but was discouraged by my dad who raised me so instead I made sure I kept up my creativity through my studies and now, through writing.
  7. Being Vietnamese myself, I’ve never had a Vietnamese boyfriend. Partly the reason is because I always feared that my mum would know their parents (which was usually the case) and I hate people getting involved in my private life.

I hope you all enjoyed this lovely post – looking forward to reading all of your interesting facts nominees! Manny | The Greenwich Mummy Signature
