February: What’s been happening last month…

The Greenwich Mummy Blog | London Family and Lifestyle

Hello stranger! It’s me again – you’ve probably forgotten about me as it’s been so long since I last posted… just checked and my last post was January 26! OMG #slacker

I am so sorry that’s it’s been so long! So much has been happening and Feb was a chock-a-block month. I’m going to try and start blogging regularly again – I’ll set myself a target of two posts a month then if I can get out more content then that will be good for both of us. 🙂

So what have I, LO and Baby Girl have been getting up to?
Here’s the lowdown…

New hair
I got my hair done at The Curious Comb (@thecuriouscomb) in Greenwich at the end of January really but I’ll add it to this list anyway! I decided to go for a complete colour change and boy, was it a drastic change! I was looking for mermaid hair but because my natural hair is so dark, there’s no way it was going to be a pastel mermaid colour. Instead, my colourist Vivi (@vv_jo) gave me this lovely vibrant multi-coloured ombre… we like to call it #watermelonhair 🙂

Before vs After – I absolutely love the colours and vibrancy! Well done The Curious Comb!

I need to write up my review of the hair salon but I can tell you now, I highly recommend The Curious Comb for all your creative colouring needs especially if you’re a local. The salon is not only good for creative colour – just check out their instagram account and you will see they are just fab and anything to do with hair. I look forward to seeing Vivi again when I book in for my Olaplex treatment.

Yoga teacher
I started and completed my Rainbow Kids Yoga teacher training! Yay me! I’m now officially a kids and families yoga teacher and since being certified I’ve been trying to set up my classes, doing all my marketing and promotion and trying to get the word out there. I’ve also set up a website for it but need to purchase the domain name soon:

I’ll be running kids yoga and family yoga classes as well as starting up my therapy services so hit me up if you’re looking for massages, facials, manicures and pedicures. I can also do gel manicures but am a little rusty so will need to practice a little more until I can offer you guys that but as you’re my loyal readers, you’ll be sure to get an exclusive discount code.

Year of the dog
This Chinese New Year it’s the year of the dog. There are 12 different animals in the Chinese zodiac calendar and every year, the cycle celebrates a different animal. Typical CNY preparation includes cleaning the house two weeks before the celebrations start. Well, we completely failed on that one as LO and Baby Girl make mess daily so there’s no way we could even go one day without having to clean up something. I did buy the traditional Vietnamese autumn ‘cake’ (banh chung) to eat with the family but they weren’t a big fan.

I just love the parcel wrapping of the cake. It looks like a present, which is actually one of its purpose. The savoury cakes are usually homemade and given to friends and family during the festival (tet). It’s made up of glutinous rice, yellow mung beans, and occasionally good cuts of pork in the centre. Yum!

He reads
LO has always loved books. I’ve been reading to him since he was born and he’s never lost interest in this and now it’s starting to pay off. He can finally read himself! I’m so proud of my little boy. We had parent’s evening at the end of Feb and his reception teacher said that he is one of the few in his class that can read unaided. His reading skills are very advance which is awesome to hear. I can’t wait to start getting him bigger books to sink his teeth into however I can tell for now he is quite content with his children’s books.

That’s it for February!

There’s lots going on in March too including me trying to set up my yoga and therapy business, business courses I’ll be attending and hopefully running some more yoga classes. Wish me luck and I hope this post will bring you guys back onto my blog for some more reading. 🙂
