Weekly Photo Challenge: Half & Half

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Half and Half”

Weekly Photo Challenge: Half and Half

Half of mummy and half of daddy, half-Vietnamese and half-Congolese… This week’s photo challenge is dedicated to LO. Both of our cultures and traditions are instilled in LO so he can grow up with the best knowledge of his dual heritage. I always make sure I speak to LO in Vietnamese as well as English and Daddy P reads French books to LO whilst speaking to him in English and sometimes French.

I hope that when LO grows up he’ll be fluent in speaking both languages as well as English and celebrate both wonderful cultures with his own family to carry on his dual-heritage.

  1. He’s gorgeous. My first thought at the WPC theme was also about heritage as I’m mixed too. ๐Ÿ™‚
Good on you for putting so much effort into his upbringing – trilingual is amazing!

    1. Thank you Celia for your kind words and comments. Correct me if I’m wrong but your about us page says you’re Australian/Japanese but you weren’t really connected to your Japanese heritage in your younger years? Can you speak the language now that you live there? So interesting!

      1. Hi Manny, yes I’m half Japanese/Aussie. I studied Japanese at university and have picked up a lot since moving to Japan. I’m fine with daily conversation, but struggle with more in depth topics – I still have a long way to go and need to study more! >_<

      2. That is wicked – it’s good that you’re in touch with both sides. I speak Vietnamese but it’s also only conversational, my parents never wanted to send me to Vietnamese Saturday school so my vocab isn’t that extensive but every little counts lol ๐Ÿ™‚

      3. True – a little is better than nothing! I bet your parents will love speaking to your little one in Vietnamese though! I love learning about people’s backgrounds, especially when they’re mixed. Thanks!! x
