We have a long weekend ahead of us with it being bank holiday Monday and all (the next bank holiday is 25th May – woop woop!) which means we have more time to go out and relax with family and friends.
Luckily for me, work doesn’t open on bank holidays so I get more time with LO – yay! 🙂 So, I’ve taken a look at a few things that are available for the whole family over the next few days so make sure you go and check them out!
Saturday 2nd May
V&A’s Museum of Childhood
Event: Romp & Roll
Time: 11:00-11:45AM / Price: £3 per child with parent/carer
Led by Adrenalindance, this fun class is for toddlers aged 2-5 to have a fun boogie to start the day. All you need to do is just turn up and sign up on the day. After the dance session, you can visit the rest of the museum with the kids to make a proper day out of the museum trip.
New Cross & Deptford’s Free Film Festival
Event: Frozen Sing-a-long
Time: 2:00PM / Price: FREE
Take advantage of our local film festival which is completely free! Saturday’s show is Frozen’s Sing Along movie held at the Deptford Lounge at 2:00PM. It’s free; arrive for 1:30pm as that’s the time the doors are open so you can get a good spot as there’s only 150 spaces. Every child loves Frozen so I am sure this free event is going to be very busy – make sure you arrive in good time so you don’t miss out on anything. Even though the event is free, you can actually book in advance.
Sunday 3rd May
Event: Up Up and Away
Time: 11:00AM / Price: FREE
Join the Science Museum on a high-flying adventure through the clouds with their super-fun and interactive storytelling that’s suitable for all toddlers and kids under 7 years old.
Uderbelly at Southbank Centre
Event: Comedy Club 4 Kids
Time: 2:30PM / Price: £8-15 (family tickets available)
Fancy a good belly-aching this bank holiday weekend? Why not treat the kids to a good laugh at the Uderbelly festival this Sunday! It’s a comedy show that’s aimed at children aged 6+ filled with grown-up style comedy without any swearing or rude bits (perfect!) You’ll also find many other things you can do whilst at the Uderbelly festival so it would make a great day out for the whole family. The line-up of acts include MC Luke Toulson, Keith Farnan, Noise Next Door and no two gigs are ever performed the same.
Monday 4th May

Does your little one love bubbles? If the answer is yes, then this is an event not to be missed! This wonderful, interactive show features bubbles of all sizes from big to small going in all sorts of directions and there’s even a chance to step inside their famous human bubble. Bubble-tastic!
Little Venice, London W2

A fantastic whole day even that celebrates the wonderful canal boats of Little Venice, London. The Canalway Cavalcade is a distinctive waterways boaters’ gathering that has been taking place at Little Venice since 1983. The event actually starts on Saturday 2nd May and ends on Monday 4th May. Expect to see boat races, Morris dancing, pop-up food stalls with delicious food and drinks. It’s an event not to be missed!
Ongoing Events In/Around Greenwich:
Woolwich Common Fun Fair
When: Now until 16th May
Time: Weekdays 1:00PM to 5:00pm, Weekends 5:00PM to 9:00PM
Price: One-off admission fee of £7.99 per adult or child
Everybody loves a good day at the fun fair so why not take the kids out to the fun fair at Woolwich Common for a bit of fun and adventure.
I’m not too sure how they are pricing their tickets. It’s a fixed admission fee like how theme parks charge and you’ll be given a wristband upon entry.
All the rides are free inside but you’ll still need cash for food or them prize-winning games. Make sure you get there early so you can really take advantage of the admission fee (opening time to closing time is 4hrs).
You can also check out the Time Out website for more things to do this bank holiday weekend.
Have a great weekend everyone!
